NFL DRAFT DAY 2014

Draft Day.
Just as the recent movie implies the trades that you make on that fateful day may have a greater impact than the players you pick.

Houston is 50-50 on whether or not they will trade their first pick.  This is unusual because a skill position player will probably not be #1.Jadeveon Clowney and Khalil Mack are the defensive behemoths who stick out.  Sammy Watkins may be the most impactful offensive player in the years to come at wide receiver.

Your choice of quarterbacks is a du jour of possibilities, with Blake Bortles being the latest darling of the prognosticators.

Good luck to your team in picking from a rich, but uncertain list of athletes.

My Two Cents
I do not watch College Football. So thanks Mike for Stepping in.
All I will say is this. If Houston takes a QB in the draft - they are Morons.
They have a tested, proven prospect in Case Keenan and need to stick with him.
He already has a year under his belt and did not make rookie mistakes.
His sacks and INTs were minimal behind a weak line. He showed maturity and the ability to lead the team. Isn't that what you hope for in a Draft prospect?

Check his stats Weeks 9 and 10 - vs IND and AZ < one of the toughest defenses in the league.
3 TDs and 0 INTs in both games, only 4 sacks total. Then they pull him for Schaub vs Oakland the very next week - this right after driving 99 yds for a TD. Never the same since.
But, their new coach, a so-called "QB Guru" - could correct that. We'll see?
Keenum has already proven he can lead the team to victory - the question is - will ownership give him the Linemen and Protection he needs. A few more holes for Foster to run through wouldn't hurt either.

They need Offensive Lineman - Period!
Trade the Pick for a few good linemen.
I would trade for players with a few years experience - if they want to win anytime soon.
Otherwise - any QB who starts will get clobbered (41 sacks last year) and fail anyway.
Let someone else gamble on a hot prospect with no experience.
Pick up two tested guys they know can block.
If they don't start Keenan - I hope they let someone pick him up who will.
Mark my words - he will be a premier QB within a few years.
If they keep Case - Foster, Johnson and Watt have several good years left. The Texans Offensive line was 23rd last year. Get that to15th - with a couple good blockers and they could be a playoff contender in 2014. Now or Never Texans.
I predict they do none of the above and stay in the cellar for years.
Hope I'm wrong. They have some stars that deserve an opportunity to win.
Now!
